Privacy & readership counts

Flor Tel Inc. publishes AFV News. We use aggregate readership counts to improve our journalism and prepare clearly described audience summaries for potential advertisers.

What these counts contain

We count successful page requests by day, publication, article, editorial section and broad referral category, such as search or social. The counting service stores no visitor identifier, IP address, browser fingerprint, exact location, raw user-agent, full referrer URL, URL query, or individual browsing history. It cannot recognize a returning reader or follow a person between publications. This aggregate page-request counter adds no analytics script, pixel or tracking cookie. A separate daily unique website counter is described below.

The server briefly reads normal request headers to exclude known automated requests and categorize referrals, then discards those header values from the counting process. Internet delivery, abuse prevention and the Cloudflare hosting service still process network information needed to serve the website; these services are separate from the readership counters. The editor sign-in uses a necessary authentication cookie.

Daily unique website visits

Connected websites also use Flor’s first-party script to count each anonymous browser once per website per UTC day. It stores one random daily identifier in browser storage and sends a hash scoped to this website and date to our private counter. The hash is retained for up to two days to prevent duplicates; daily totals are retained for 395 days and cumulative totals are retained. Reloads and other pages do not add another count that day. A returning browser can count again the next day, and different devices or cleared storage can count separately. No stored IP address or individual browsing history is used. Read the website visit-count notice and control this counter.

Your choice

We exclude requests carrying Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. You may also exclude this browser with the button below. That preference sets a necessary first-party cookie containing only the word “off”, lasting up to one year. It is not a visitor identifier. This choice applies to this hostname; use the privacy control on each publication you visit.

Retention and reporting

Daily aggregate counts are removed after 395 days, with cleanup performed daily. We retain no per-reader event log in this analytics system. Preview and editorial testing traffic is kept separate from live-publication counts. Advertiser reports describe request counts, dates and limitations; they do not claim unique readers, independently audited circulation, ad impressions, or demographic profiles.

Contact enquiries

If you submit a contact form, we use the name, email address, phone number, enquiry type and message you provide to handle your request. The enquiry is stored in our restricted Flor contact-management system and sent to the publication operator. This is separate from anonymous readership counts and does not subscribe you to marketing. Contact us to request access, correction or deletion, subject to applicable recordkeeping requirements.

Advertising

Personalized advertising, advertising pixels, cross-site identifiers, and third-party analytics are not enabled in this publication platform. Any future tracking-based advertising requires its own privacy and consent controls before activation.
